Research & Development

At our Lupine Research Division, we specialize in R&D and material science in polymers, metals, and coatings. We focus on identifying new materials to improve product functionality and developing innovative processes to address the changing needs of our customers.

  • Nonstick, insulative and conductive coatings
  • Metallization of polymers and other materials
  • Temperature durability applications (high/low reqquirements)
  • Smart/embedded sensors
  • Bio compatible materials
  • ISO 6, 7 & 8 Cleanrooms available

We also can provide full FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to identify potential gaps within the design or process upfront and utilize simulative software to improve outcomes before any fabrication starts.

  • GD&T application
  • DOE, DFM and dFMEA
  • Short and long-term capability studies
  • In-House Testing capabilities

Prototyping

Preliminary models to illustrate a concept or fully functional and “production level” metal and plastic prototyping capabilities and everything in between are available from Weiss-Aug Group.

Our Laser Lab Technology Center is equipped with best-in-class cutting and etching equipment as well as 3D printers for faster and more accurate metal & plastic prototype development.

Early Phase Bridge Tooling

Bridge tooling can offer the stability and robust processing of production level tooling with a lower price commitment and more flexibility for future iterations.  Additionally, PPAP and IQ, OQ, PQ requirements can be achieved on these platforms should your production volumes not require additional investment.

For Progressive stamping bridge tool platforms, we use lighter tool steels and fewer stations. We design and fabricate bridge dies that can handle from ten thousand to a few hundred thousand parts. If you have an over-molded or injection molded product, typically we can utilize bases we have in stock to customize with inserts for your specific part.

“Today through use of innovative lean manufacturing techniques, expansive engineered processes and a strict adherence to the highest quality and safety standards, our stamping plant has successfully produced recent multi-year PPM ratings of less than one. Our stamping philosophies have also earned us high supplier ratings with both automotive and medical customers and continuous positive auditing scores from yearly ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, ISO 14001:2015 audits and IATF 16949:2016.”
