High-Precision Medical CNC Machining Services for Complex Components

Machining accuracy defines how reliably a medical component performs once it leaves the drawing and enters production. Weiss-Aug provides medical CNC machining services that focus on controlling geometry, material response, and repeatability where tolerances interact under real operating conditions. Rather than treating machining as a standalone step, we evaluate how cutting strategies, fixturing decisions, and inspection methods influence downstream assembly and device function. These services support components that require dimensional stability across builds as programs move from early production into sustained volume.

Our teams execute medical component CNC machining with an emphasis on consistency over time, accounting for tool wear, process variation, and material behavior across complex geometries. The result? CNC medical machined parts that integrate predictably into medical devices, maintaining performance as production scales and regulatory expectations remain fixed.

What is CNC Precision Machining?

CNC precision machining involves a variety of subtractive manufacturing processes, such as cutting, grinding, and drilling, with specialized tools and computer numerical control (CNC) machines. These processes are used to create intricate and complex geometries, with the tightest tolerances, as required by demanding industries including orthopedic and medical devices.

Weiss-Aug MedPharma's modern precision machining services achieve much tighter tolerances than standard CNC precision machining. While standard CNC precision machining produces tolerances of about 0.12 to 0.2 mm, our precision machining can achieve tolerances as close as 0.0001 in (0.0025 mm).

Typical Features and Geometries Requiring CNC Precision Machining

  • Custom slotting or forming that cannot be performed by upstream operations
  • Extremely small features that cannot be performed by upstream operations
  • Form fit and function areas of a critical function requirement
  • Tight tolerances or datum relationship to critical features

Precision Electrochemical Machining

Weiss-Aug MedPharma also offers Precision Electro-Chemical Machining (ECM) which is the process of machining workpieces through the anodic dissolution of metal. Many metals can be electrochemically machined, including high-alloyed nickel, stainless steel, titanium, and other hardened materials.

There is no contact with the workpiece and no heat input, so many of the disadvantages experienced with traditional machining methods, e.g. tool wear, mechanical stresses, micro-fissures caused by heat transfer can be avoided with this unique process.

Weiss-Aug provides P-ECM for products and parts where the geometry would require too many steps to achieve, or not possible with stamping, laser cutting, or other manufacturing technologies.
