Mold Maker
Description

The Mold Maker position prepares molds for production. Duties might include studying CAD drawings, performing PM’s on molds daily. The mold maker performs work to keep tools operating in "like new" condition. When done properly, this position significantly reduces downtime and unplanned maintenance cost by proactively conducting inspections, completing scheduled preventative maintenance, tracking use and wear of equipment and molds, making necessary repairs, and making improvement recommendations to the supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble/disassemble molds following applicable work instructions and drawings.
  • Perform overhauls (Preventative Maintenance); Parts fitting and shape mold components in accordance to training guidelines and understand parts mating, position, and function.
  • Perform quality assurance check on all fabricated tooling.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Prepare required documentation (i.e. tooling work orders, quality inspection reports, etc.)
  • Insure proper verbal/written communication with other departments regarding mold activities.
  • Perform all job duties per OSHA guidelines, safety rules and housekeeping requirements and ensure other maintenance associates follow the proper guidelines, rules, and requirements.
  • Fit and assemble complex molds from fabricated and purchased components using assembly drawings and/or CAD layouts.
  • Analyze and correct problems with complex molds to ensure molded product is consistently produced according to drawing dimensions/specifications and at the required run rates
  • Document thoroughly any tool modifications implemented on the shop floor in order to produce a successful tool and/or improve its performance for subsequent updating of the Engineering database.
  • Strictly adhere to company Safety Policy and procedures.
  • Maintain and operate all shop equipment in a safe manner and within the bounds of which the equipment was intended to operate. Safety guards/sensors are never to be compromised or short-circuited.
  • Promote cleanliness and safety throughout the entire company.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Mold Maintenance & Repair. or Molding Department Manager.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing responsibilities and shifting priorities.
  • Bilingual skills preferred
Education
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
